Excuse me… nobody told me my cocktail was arriving this cute.

I ordered No Confessions Needed at Extra Virgin for the cocktail—not knowing it would show up with this adorable edible flower. 😂

Made with Tanqueray gin, grappa, lemon and lavender, it’s bright, botanical and seriously well-balanced. And thankfully, the lavender knows its place… cocktail, not bathwater. 😏

The flower was the surprise. The cocktail earned the score.

⭐ 9/10

Alaska Exclusive Review: Mulled Wine — 9/10

Okay, THIS makes sense on an Alaska cruise.

Red wine gently simmered with orange peel, clove, cinnamon and star anise, then finished with a splash of brandy.

Warm, spiced, cozy and basically the alcoholic equivalent of wrapping yourself in a blanket while Alaska casually shows off outside. 😂🏔️

⭐ 9/10 — I’d absolutely order this again on a chilly Alaska day.

Hot wine: cozy perfection or absolutely not? 👀

Whiskey Dreams Boozy Float — 8/10

Apparently someone at The Social Club decided a regular Coke float wasn’t vacation enough. 😂

This one combines Four Walls Whiskey, whiskey crema, Coke and marshmallow into a boozy version of the childhood classic.

Creamy, sweet, nostalgic…and then the whiskey shows up to remind you that you’re an adult with a Bar Tab. 😏

⭐ 8/10 — definitely dessert disguised as a drink, and I’m not mad about it.

Alaska Exclusive Review: Bee’s Please — 8/10

The Dock House is getting in on Virgin Voyages’ Alaska specials with the Bee’s Please: Tongass gin, pear liqueur, lemon and honey.

And listen… the second lemon and honey hit together, my brain went straight to “someone get this man a blanket and some cough drops.” 😂

It definitely has that slightly medicinal vibe, BUT the pear and gin keep it bright, refreshing and very drinkable. 8/10 from me.

Would the lemon + honey combo make you order it… or immediately skip it? 👀

Dock House Kafta Skewers — 7/10

Listen… nobody wants a dry skewer. 😏

These kafta skewers at The Dock House on Virgin Voyages are meaty, moist, and nicely seasoned. Definitely enjoyable and something I’d happily snack on again, but with everything else competing for my attention at The Dock House, they’re sitting at a solid 7/10.

Good? Absolutely.
My first order next time? Ehhh… we have options. 😂

I genuinely thought this was raw…

One look at this dish from Test Kitchen Menu A and I was convinced it wasn’t cooked.

Turns out, it’s a perfectly smoked poached egg yolk served with English peas, caviar, and beer bread. Once you break into it, the yolk becomes a rich, velvety sauce that ties the whole dish together.

⭐ 8/10

It’s a great reminder that at Test Kitchen, appearances can be deceiving—and that’s part of the fun.

Test Kitchen Menu A Review

This course completely fooled me.

At first glance, it looks like you’re being served a whole mushroom…

But it’s actually a silky, pâté-like creation made from four different varieties of mushrooms, served with crispy toasty mushroom bread.

⭐ 9/10

It’s earthy, creamy, and packed with umami. If you’re a mushroom fan, this might end up being one of your favorite bites on Menu A.

Test Kitchen continues to prove that presentation is only half the experience—the flavors are what really make these dishes memorable.

Ketchikan Fun Fact!

Ketchikan is known as Alaska’s “First City” because it’s one of the first ports many northbound cruise ships visit.

It’s also one of the rainiest cities in the United States, averaging well over 100 inches of rain each year. 🌧️

So yes… packing a waterproof jacket is one of the best decisions you can make for an Alaska cruise!

Grounds Club Review – Ketel One Espresso Martini

⭐ 9/10

As an espresso martini fan, I had high expectations… and this one delivered.

It’s smooth, well-balanced, and incredibly convenient since it’s served on tap, making it one of the quickest cocktails to grab onboard.

My only reason for holding back a perfect score? It’s made with cold brew rather than a freshly pulled espresso shot. The flavor is still excellent, but that fresh espresso crema would have taken it to another level.

If you’re looking for a pick-me-up before a show—or just because you’re on vacation—this one’s definitely worth ordering.

Rojo Review – Alaska-Exclusive Roasted Cod

⭐ 8/10

Virgin Voyages added several Alaska-inspired specials for this itinerary, and this Roasted Cod features pimentón chickpeas, roasted peppers, and a manzanilla tapenade.

The cod was nicely cooked and flaky, and the Mediterranean-inspired flavors paired well together. It was an enjoyable dish overall, but make sure to pair it with something else to get a full meal lol

It’s a solid choice if you’re looking for something lighter, but there are a few other dishes on the menu I’d reach for first.

Rojo Review – Blueberry Sangria

⭐ 9/10

Virgin Voyages has introduced several Alaska-inspired food and drink specials, and this Blueberry Sangria is one I’d happily order again.

Made with Bear Creek blueberry mirlo wine, sherry, Cointreau, blackberry, pineapple, and lemon, it’s light, fruity, and incredibly refreshing after a day exploring Alaska.

The blueberry flavor comes through without being overly sweet, making it an easy sipper whether you’re celebrating sailaway or winding down after a port day.

This is definitely one of the Alaska specials I’d recommend adding to your list.

But one of the biggest surprises on my first Alaska cruise has been discovering charming ports like Ketchikan. The colorful waterfront, local businesses, fresh seafood, and slower pace make these stops just as memorable as the scenic cruising.

Wondering what happens to your luggage after check-in?

Once you hand it over at the terminal, your bags will be delivered directly to your cabin throughout embarkation day.

If one of your bags hasn’t arrived after a while, don’t panic! Your cabin attendant is a great first point of contact and can help you figure out where it is.

And here’s one more tip… if you accidentally packed a prohibited item, don’t be surprised if you receive a message from Security. Some items may be held until the end of the voyage, while others may simply need to be inspected before they’re returned.

A little patience on embarkation day goes a long way—your suitcase (and vacation) will be with you before you know it!

Ariya Menu Challenge – Gulab Jamun Cheesecake

Did Ariya raid The Cheesecake Factory’s idea board? 😄

⭐ 8/10

This dessert combines rich, creamy cheesecake with gulab jamun, creating a fun fusion of a classic American dessert and one of India’s most beloved sweets.

The cheesecake itself was smooth and delicious, and the flavors worked surprisingly well together. My only small critique is that I would’ve liked the gulab jamun to be a little softer and more syrup-soaked, which would have made each bite even more indulgent.

Even so, it’s one of the most creative desserts I’ve had onboard, and it’s definitely worth trying if you save room after dinner.

Ariya Menu Challenge – Coconut Tapioca Pudding

⭐ 8/10

After a meal full of bold spices, this dessert was exactly what I was hoping for.

The coconut tapioca is smooth and creamy without being too rich, and the fresh fruit adds a burst of sweetness and brightness that keeps every bite feeling light and refreshing. The coconut flavor is present without overpowering the dish, making it a really balanced finish to the meal.

If you like desserts that are refreshing rather than overly sweet, this one’s definitely worth ordering.
